I’m over this year, and I’m over relationships. I’ve
learned that the only person you can count on in life is yourself. Moving
forward, I’m living for me. Working toward standing on my own two feet,
that’s my goal. Funny how meeting him changed my path.
It’s been years since I’ve been back in this small town of
West Virginia for more than a day or two. Spending time here brings back
a lot of fond memories. When I stopped by an old friend’s bar, I was
expecting to grab a drink and catch up. What I didn’t expect was her.
We share an undeniable attraction, but we continue to fight
it.
Until one night in Vegas changes everything.
Review:
So neat thing I thought about this book, I live in West Virginia, and the book is based in West Virginia.
Saylor finds herself single and homeless all within a week of burying the most important person in her life. Her ex is scum and I loved how Saylor put him in his place. She didn't back down even when he comes groveling back. She finds herself alone but what else is new for her.
Rhett is trying to figure out life. He thinks he knows what he wants until an illness brings him back to this little town. A town that has always felt like home. I loved his relationship with his parents and gramps. I loved the little group of friends we are introduced to.
During all this it was nice to see the relationship develop quickly and for Rhett to be honest where he stood with Saylor. He wasn't hiding from his attraction for her. He let her know that a relationship would happen and she shouldn't be scared.
I loved how the older people in this book were important. They werent cast off as a problem or inconvenience, they were family and loved. Gramps is who steals your heart. You will fall in love with this old man who just wants his grandson around more. You will laugh at his stubborness and plotting. You will sigh when he is sweet to Saylor but not to Rhett.
This book had a little bit of everything and Kaylee of course did it so good that as soon as I began I was ending. I read this book quickly because of the flow and story line. It didn't bore me, it didn't drag on, there was no big drama, it was real life.
