Shift by Staci Hart
Publishing Date:  August 24th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:

Even the gods cannot betray the will of the stars.

It’s been a hundred years since she’s warmed my bed, a hundred years spent waiting for her. Now we’ll compete again in a game that matters little to me. But my prize is far greater than a token to be paid for a favor — I want her.

And for the first time in a very long time, I have the chance to keep her.

Because now the ground has shifted, tilted in my favor, and with her footing unsteady, she will fall.

I will catch her.

This time, I won’t let go.
Excerpt:

ARES
The city stretched up like quartz against the fading sunlight, the colors of the sky deepening with every second that slipped by. Ares’s eyes were on the horizon, slashed with the darkening skyscrapers at the southern tip of Manhattan, but his mind was a thousand years behind him, and her face filled the space in between.
They were Mars and Venus. Man and woman. Ares and Aphrodite. The bond between them was unbreakable, undeniable, no matter how she had tried to reject it, tried to stay away. She’d never quite succeeded. She never would.
Even the gods could not betray the will of the stars.
It had been a hundred years since she warmed his bed, a hundred years of waiting for her. Now they would compete again in a game that mattered little to him. His prize was far greater than a token to be paid for a favor — he wanted her. And for the first time in a very long time, he had a chance to keep her.
Adonis had been in the way far too long — even murdering the human hadn’t removed him from the equation — but now the ground had shifted, tilted in Ares’s favor, and with Aphrodite’s footing unsteady, she would fall.
He would catch her.
This time, he wouldn’t let go.
Ares had already chosen his human player, and soon he would make his way down to the throng of gods who waited for the game to begin. She would be there. She would make her choice, and the fire between them would ignite as it always did — first with a spark, then a flicker. Then, she would be consumed, and so would he.
It would be the same as it ever was, and he was so starved for her, his body tensed from head to heart to heel in anticipation of what was to come.
From a hundred years down to a few days, the distance traveled worth every second of longing, and with every moment that passed, the stars moved closer to alignment and to his favor. And there was nothing she could do to fight it.
He’d see to that.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Release with Review:: In this Breeze (Lake Shore University #1) by Kathleen Mareé

Title: In This Breeze
Series: Lakeshore University #1
Author: Kathleen Maree
Genre: NA Romance
Release Date: August 24, 2017
A nerd. A quiet art student. A nobody.
Or perhaps, just some girl.
These are the non-spoken titles I was known as since I started at Lake Shore Uni almost two years ago now. When given the chance to leave my horrific childhood behind - I didn’t hesitate. In fact, I was ecstatic to have the door hit me on the ass on my way out of town; because the only two things I actually loved in my traumatic life…
Were coming with me.
And whilst the three of us shared the same beat-up truck when we moved here – that’s where the similarities unfortunately end.
Ethan ‘The Mule’ Jones, is kind of a super star on campus. Everywhere he goes he seems to draw attention. I guess that’s what happens when you’re headlining papers as the star basketballer for the LS Eagles. But to me, he’s just Eth. A boy who still spends his Friday nights snuggled up watching movies with me, and who walks me to classes just to make sure I get there okay. He is my best friend in every way, and I can’t imagine my life without him in it.
And then there’s Jase.
The truth is I knew from the moment I met Jase at the local skate park, when he was smoking a cigarette and teasing Eth for his poor skating ability, of how fiercely protective he was about those he cared for. From the time he blew his warm breath over my injured knee, to when he thankfully intervened on the most horrific day of my life. A day, that still haunts me when I am alone in the dark.
He saved me.
But Jase has his own demons too. Even if he doesn’t go looking for it, trouble always seems to find him. Which is why he has been absent from our lives for the past two years.
Sometimes I wonder what he’s doing.
Quite often I worry if he’s okay.
And I always, always, think about him.
Even though I shouldn’t.

Review:

When your heart belongs to two men, how do you choose? You follow your heart right? Wouldn't that be simple enough. Well life for Bre just isn't that simple. Growing up with a not so good dad and not having a lot of life's luxuries makes you hang on to those closest to your heart. She has hung onto Jase and Ethan since they were kids.

Now entering their twenties and trying to figure out life, Bre is very confused about the actions that come from both of these men in her life. Jase has returned after being gone for years. Ethan is protective as ever and obviously hating that Jase is back.

Kathleen will take you through the ringer with emotions. She will make you feel a little antsy, a little frustrated, and a little upset. That is ONLY because you will love this group of kids so much, you just want it all to work out for all three. You will worry about Jase. You will want Bre to be treated like an adult. You will want Ethan to let life drive him instead of him trying to make it all turn out a certain way.

The truth is I knew who Bre was going to choose from the first time he appeared at her side, although I think I also knew he'd break her just as easily. This leaves us with a full gasp ending and I will tell Ms. Kathleen, I hope you are writing because I will anxiously be waiting to see how these three continue their friendship and how their hearts heal.

From the earliest age I was a born storyteller. Ask my parents and they will tell you I had a gift for making a simple event seem like an elaborate one. Purposely? No. Innocently? Yes. It was my imaginary world that initially led me to believe I wanted to be an actor. All of that role playing and living in fantasy... it was an obvious direction for me. However, becoming quite uncomfortable with the limelight quickly saw that dream diminish. Over the years I turned my world of fantasy into stories, and eventually began writing them down. Before I knew it, 'Cut' had been completed. When I am not busy writing my next story, I am a working mum, housewife and sometimes hockey wag :) In other words, probably some kind of circus act who specialises in juggling ;) I hope you enjoy my blog, where I will be posting thoughts, other books I am currently reading and even sneak peeks of my novels. I encourage any feedback, comments or direct messages via my contact page should anyone wish to get in touch. I am so thrilled to be sharing my journey and hope you enjoy my stories as much as I enjoy writing them.
Dream often. Believe always.

Release with Review:: My Hot Boss by Betty Shreffler

Grayson and Emma were a fun couple. She is just a normal girl that got dumped and went out to drown her sorrows in alcohol. When she bumps into Grayson in the club, they share some really great chemistry, however her first impression just isn't up to par.

I hated that he believed he couldn't love for the reason he gave her. I kept wanting to hit him. They were in love, he just didn't want to see it. He didn't want to admit it. He frustrated her to no end.

Emma is successful, smart, and building her confidence even though Grayson threatens to push it all back down for her. She is making a future for herself even if her ex couldn't see that.

I loved these two together, I loved when Grayson realized he couldn't live without Emma, and I loved the writing. This book kept you interested until the very end.

Emma
From the moment I met Grayson Cole, I knew he was someone I wanted to let in my panties and maybe, even in my heart. One night, one sexy-as-sin kiss, and several drinks later, our incredible evening turns into a disaster and I’m apologizing for the vomit spatter on his fancy, black shoes. I never thought I’d see him again after that, no matter how many nights I spent wishing I would. Until a month later, he waltzes into my office as—MY NEW, HOT BOSS.
I’m so screwed.

Grayson
She was meant to be a fun f*ck. That’s all I wanted. That’s all I needed. But Emma Williams could never be just that for me. The quirky, brunette vixen challenges me at every opportunity. My desire to have her has me working for her affections, like I’ve never done before. What is this woman doing to me? Not only am I her Boss, but I don’t do feelings. There’s only one way I see this ending.
I’m f*cked for sure.

Review:
The struggle is real for these two hearts. They have so much to overcome from high school while also trying to ignore what is being said in their hearts. They bring sunshine into each other's lives. They work together to overcome the past. They remind each other how strong they are. They show each other there is more than fear.

I loved this book. I loved the story that showed that two hearts sometimes need each other to heal and they cannot do it on their own. Tiff is very stubborn however she finally gives in to what she has felt for years. Riley may think he is pathetic at many times but he keeps pushing until Tiff sees that she is worth the love Riley has for her.

Review:

Oh Tequila. After this funny story, many might be thinking yep that's what tequila does. But what it doesn't usually do is find the woman of your dreams. Literally, Xavier's dreams because he can't remember a damn thing from their night together. Morgan keeps it all together the day after, giving him a ride home  to his frat house. Morgan has perceptions of what Xavier should be. She doesn't want to accept that he just might be a nice guy.

We find out in this amazing story by CA is that he is a great guy, a big heart, and humble. The jokes were funny, his frat brothers made me laugh out loud and I kept waiting to see what could possibly come next. However when push came to shove, these brothers look out for each other and helped Xavier to save the day.

The introduction to the frat and this pair was a great way to begin a series. Now for us to impatiently wait for book 2.

I love HEA stories, as long as they come packing a little heat. I need some excitement, some angst, and moments that make me fan my face are always good too. I am an Illinois girl, born and raised. Simple and true, it honestly doesn’t take much to make me happy. I love the little things; they truly mean the most. I may have a slight addiction to my new Keurig—oh my, that thing is a godsend. And so fast too. I have two children who truly are my very best friends, and their faces never fail to put a smile on my face. I have been married to my husband for sixteen years, and even though at times I want to beat him with a stick, I would never change the years we have had. We have learned and fallen, only to pick each other up, dust off the ache, and help each other make it right. I am one of those authors that adore my fans. I love to hear from you. After all, it is because of each one of you that I continue to write. I look forward to your feedback. Be sure to follow me to stay up-to-date on all my upcoming releases.
