In this steamy tale by USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, an American searching for her purpose escapes to a Scottish town but finds more questions than answers when she meets a brooding yet handsome handyman.

Freshly fired from her third job in a row, Bonnie St. James has lost her way. So when she and her best friend stumble upon a “help wanted” post to run a coffee shop in the Scottish Highlands, they apply on a whim. Who knows? Maybe traveling to a new place is just what she needs to figure out her next move.

When the friends arrive in the tiny idyllic town of Corsekelly, they instantly fall for the gorgeous Highland landscape and friendly townspeople. But Bonnie finds a less-than-warm welcome in Rowan MacGregor, the rugged local handyman. Busy wrestling his own demons, Rowan’s in no mood to deal with the quirky American—even if she is a bonny lass.

As Bonnie and Rowan’s paths inevitably cross, insults—and sparks—fly. Can the pair build on their similarities to help each other find purpose and direction…and maybe romance too? Or will their passionate tempers fling them apart?

TheHighlandFling_teaser-2

Excerpt:

“I know you would have done the same for me.” I move my hands slowly across his chest. “Rowan?”

“Hmm?”

“Does this mean . . . we’re starting something?”

“Are you fishing for a date, lass?”

“Wouldn’t hurt you to ask, you know.”

“Okay.”

And I wait . . . and wait . . . and wait.

“Uh, are you going to ask?”

“On my terms, Bonnie. Now just go to sleep.”

“On your terms—what does that even mean?”

“Means I’ll ask when I ask.”

“Well, I can’t wait around forever, you know. I’m fresh meat in a Scottish meat market. I might be asked out tomorrow, and because you never asked me out, I would take that date.”

“Then take it,” he says casually.

I pinch his side, and he barely flinches. “You’re not supposed to say that.”

“I know you wouldn’t take it. You’re too infatuated with me.”

“Oh, now you did it,” I exclaim. “Now I’m going to go ask Lieth out just to spite you.”

He chuckles. “Good luck. I heard he likes to lick necks on first dates.”

“Well, then he’s the perfect man for me.”

Release with Review:: Fourth Down by Heidi McLaughlin

Title: Fourth Down
Series: Portland Pioneers #1
A Beaumont Series Next Generation Spin-off
Author: Heidi McLaughlin
Genre: Contemporary Sports Romance
Release Date: August 10, 2021

BLURB

From the New York Times bestselling author of Forever My Girl: The Motion Picture, Heidi McLaughlin delivers a contemporary romance that will leave you dancing in the end zone!

Autumn LaRosa has been playing defense since the moment she met Julius Cunningham. After accepting a position as a meteorologist in Portland, she strives to make a good first impression. Then she meets the arrogant wide receiver who belittles her in front of her new friends. She could have walked off the sting of his bitter words, but he keeps showing up in her social circle.

Now, she is determined to meet him at the line of scrimmage and prove she’s not one to back down.

Julius Cunningham is well aware there’s a flag on the play after his harsh words to Autumn. The more he sees of Portland’s new weather girl, the clearer it becomes his judgments of her were unfounded.

But how can he call a timeout on the animosity he created?

When Autumn attends a charity event with the Pioneer players, she sees an opportunity too tempting to resist. Julius looks miserable being a part of the date auction, making it even more fun for Autumn to bid. Will she use the opportunity for some good old-fashioned payback? Or will this be their fresh start at the twenty-yard line?

Get ready for the snap and sprint for the end zone because Autumn and Julius are headed for either a tackle or a touchdown!

Review:
Some stories make you think, would this happen? This story lets you know that life is hard and yes its messy. Julius is going through a terrible time, his life is spiraling and he is trying to get his feet under him. Autumn has a new job and is moving to make a name for herself. Between their mutual friends, their hearts find each other. Julius recognizes he needs help and has to work through those issues while also figuring out how to trust. This story really touched my heart and I loved seeing Julius so vulnerable with his feelings. It was nice to see others from the Beaumont series.

EXCERPT

Everything in the room is white. The couch. The rug. The walls. Even the television has a white border around it. The mantel over the fireplace—white. Same with the picture frames. Everywhere I look, it’s all I see. The living room is supposed to be inviting, welcoming, and yet it feels stressful. I’ve never been the type of person who asks their friends to take off their shoes when they come into their home. I find it rude, but I also respect it if my friends ask me. When you come into my house—well, my soon to be former home—your shoes must be off. Not only off but left outside.
I sit on the couch, with its white pillows, and rest my ankle on my knee. My shoes are on because I’m bitter and angry at the world, the situation I’m in, and my wife. Mostly her, which probably isn’t fair, but her actions have put us in this position.
Elena comes into the room and sighs heavily. I know why and I don’t care. I continue to stare out the window at the blue sky. Elena and I met in college. I was on a full scholarship at the University of Alabama, playing wide receiver, and she worked for my favorite clothing store. I wish I could say it was love at first sight, but it was fear that brought us together. I had been in her store when a tornado warning sounded. Everyone in the store took shelter, except Elena. She stood in the middle of the room with nothing but sheer panic on her face. Her co-workers tried to coax her into the back room, but she was frozen. I went to her, scooped her up, and carried her to the back. She clung to me until the warning was over. The entire time I just talked to her about my life, football, my hopes, and dreams. She told me she moved to Alabama to go to school, but her financial aid fell through, and she was too embarrassed to go home and ask her parents for money. They didn’t want her moving south to begin with, and told her she was making a mistake. She needed to prove them wrong.
After that day, we started hanging out. She’d come to the dorm, help me with my homework, and I’d invite her to games. Our friendship turned romantic a few months later, and after a couple of years of dating, I asked her to marry me. I thought I had found my soulmate. It turns out I was just her meal ticket to stardom.
It’s funny when you’re in a life and death situation. You say a lot of things to the people around you. For me, I’ve always dreamed of playing professional football. I worked my ass off in college to achieve my dream. Elena’s dream was to work in marketing or advertising. That was until we started dating seriously, and her social media skyrocketed. Then, her dream was to become an influencer and eventually a model. I supported each change in her career wholeheartedly because I wanted her to be happy, and I was in love with her. I thought she was in love with me. She told me we had to have a house in Orange County even though we lived in Portland, Oregon. At first, I didn’t understand why but still gave her what she wanted. Everything became clear when some reality TV show about wives announced she was joining the cast. The show was a hit. Her fame grew. And suddenly, she wanted to be an actress. By now, through all of this, we have two children and are splitting our time between Portland, Huntington Beach, her parents in Delaware, and mine in Michigan. An endless cycle of traveling. I tried to talk to her about it. I tried telling her something had to give. At first, she was defensive, telling me I was trying to stifle her creativity. Then she said if I really loved her and the kids, I’d ask for a trade to one of the teams in California. When I told her no, she uttered the word I never thought I’d hear—divorce.
My world was rocked.

This was it…I could see it in my editor’s eyes.   This was the last straw. One more misstep and I was going to lose my coveted internship.   I decided right there in my room, lime-flavored tortilla chips in hand, that I would do whatever it took to write the story of the century.   And I had my target in sight—the undefeated Devil’s baseball team. They were RFU royalty, and completely untouchable.   Their parties were impossible to get into unless you were handpicked, and I was not.   Even still, I had a solid plan.   I would not get caught, definitely not seduced, and absolutely wouldn’t die. That is until I was stopped and rendered totally speechless by a pair of mossy eyes.   He lured me in, close enough to feel the press of his mouth against my skin and the heat of his hands on my body. Undoubtedly, I was a sheep headed straight for the slaughter, which only proved true when he called my bluff.   With him holding all the cards for my future success, and in order to salvage what remained of my dream, I did the only thing I could.   I made a deal with a devil.

Shayne

I’ve never had anyone look at me the way he looks at me, like I could be his whole world.

Ford is different from other guys. For starters, he doesn’t know about my troubled past—the one this small town won’t let me forget, no matter how hard I try. Being with him, I can be myself. Without judgment. Without pretending. He’s unlocked a part of me I wasn’t sure still existed.

Just as quickly as we find each other, it’s time to say goodbye. Ford might feel a world away, but reading his letters and sharing starry nights with him keeps us close until I can be back in his arms.

Ford

From the first moment I laid eyes on her, I knew I needed more time.

While on leave with my best friend from the Army, I finally meet his cousin, Shayne. She’s unexpected—in the best of ways. I quickly realize she could be exactly who I need her to be—my everything.

As long as my life belongs to the military, I can only offer her promises and distance. Maybe getting in involved while enlisted is a mistake, but I’m not ready to let her go. From afar, we find something neither of us was looking for, and it’s all possible beneath the fallen stars.

Review:
This was a cute story. One that will make you feel the pain and loss of love. One that will make you all gooey inside with all the lovey dovey goodness. I really enjoyed all the feels of this one. These two work so nicely together to put together a story that makes you want to be sitting right there with this wonderful group.

BLURB

I can’t stop thinking about her...

Something about Delilah draws me in from the first moment we meet. The fact that she’s a single mom, to the sweetest kid ever, is just a bonus.

I’ve got my work cut out for me when it comes to showing her what real love is. First, I’ll have to earn her trust and prove I’m not going anywhere— that I’ll be here for both of them.

After seeing her fading bruises and split lip, my protective instincts kick in and I know I would do anything to keep them safe. But she keeps pushing me away, afraid her secrets will put me in danger.

My whole life I’ve grown up hearing about the boom. I wasn’t sure my time would come... Until Delilah.

Now that it has, I’m never letting go.

Until Delilah is part of Aurora Rose Reynolds's Happily Ever Alpha World. If you loved Until December, then you will want to read Until Delilah.

Review:
I don't even know if I can clearly describe how well written this story is and how much you will love it. We meet Delilah carefully rushing out in the middle of the night to escape a terrible man. She runs with her little boy and settles in a small town in Tennessee. I was shocked when I was introduced to sexy Max Black. I loved that his parents were old favorites. Delilah's story broke my heart, living in fear, trying to take care of her son, and wanting more from life. Stubborn and prideful but it takes the right man to let those walls down. Max puts his whole heart into loving Delilah and her son. They become a family and they stole my heart. I am loving these stories, keeping us in the loop with our old friends and introducing us to new ones. Cannot wait for more from this author and more.

 Release Date: August 5

As Boston's most eligible nanny, I'm nurturing, trustworthy, and professional. Until my one-night stand turns out to be my new boss.

Hawks defenseman James Ryan is Boston's most eligible single-dad. He's solemn, gorgeous, and an incredible father. But I'm drawn to him for other reasons.

James's eyes reflect the same grief and hurt I'm drowning in. His twins struggle with the same pain that once destroyed me. Living with the Ryan family and caring for James's twins are both a salve and a curse.

Soon, what made us click one summer night over whiskey is wreaking havoc on our commitment to remain professional. Our friendship blossoms into something more. Something searching, healing, and unbelievably complicated.

Falling in love with Milly and Mason Ryan is easy. Falling in love with their father is something I never saw coming.

If I give my heart to James, will he put it back together? Or will I end up more shattered than I already am?

Review:
I loved this story. It will hit every spot in your heart and it will make you cry. James is still grieving while raising his twins. He is still figuring out life. Bella has her own pain but she does a stand up job hiding it. Only she can't hide it from James. The first moment they meet, he knows she's sad. They have a connection like no other. They will have a lot of fight for this love but it is so worth it. This ride is amazing and I couldn't stop reading. I hope to read more from this author since this first read was wonderful.
