Title: Slam: A Colorado Smoke Novel
Author: Andee Michelle
Genre: Sports RomanceRelease Date: August 18, 2017

Bryant “Slam” Nash is known for three things…

His intensity on the field,

His drive to win the World Series,

And scoring on the first date.

Gearing up for the biggest season of his career, Slam is determined to focus on his game, calling a time out on anything considered a distraction. Including Layne Scott.

Layne Scott doesn’t do complicated.

Independent and focused on raising her daughter, Layne is a woman running a business dominated by men. Managing the sports bar her father left her, she has no time for the arrogant ball player who keeps strutting through her door. With chiseled good looks in baseball pants, Slam Nash is a temptation she can’t afford.

Game on…

My Review

This sports romance will keep you hooked until the end. The writing and the characters are so likeable that you will love the flow of the story. You will fall in love with dysfunction that is real life.

Layne is running her sports bar, living her very simple life when Bryant crashes into her life. She is taking care of her 8 year old, Gracie and trying to live life the only way she knows how. You will fall in love with Gracie, she is a fun 8 year old that loves baseball. You will love the relationship that Layne has built with her daughter.

Bryant makes it very clear that he doesn't want or have time for a relationship but for the life of him he cannot stay away. He is drawn to Layne. When he finally gives in and does the dating thing, you will melt. He is built for relationships, and he is the only one that doesn't know it. He wears his heart on his sleeve. His best friend will keep you laughing.

Andee does such a great job of relaying the characters feelings and the secondary characters relationships with them. You want to be best friends with this group. We get lots of baseball. We get lots of details of the personal relationship between Gracie's dad and Layne. We get a lot of real life. This wasn't a far fetched, it could never happen. This is your friends life. This could happen to anyone. I loved how real it was, how honest Layne was, and how slow the relationship went. There was an instant attractive but not an instant love story. It showed the progression from getting to know each other and how quickly those feelings do change but life does get in the way. Layne remains independent even though she is falling. I cannot say enough good about this book.

Although Andee grew up a military brat and traveled the world with her family, she has made her home in southwest Idaho with her husband and two sons. Working in the legal field, shuttling her boys around, chasing her two crazy dogs and reigning in her adrenaline junky husband keeps her busy. She has always had a passion for reading and writing, even as a child. Andee loves a great glass of wine, reading late into the night, and spending time in the mountains with her family and friends.
