So this book I actually listened to, my first audio. I didn't know what to except from this author because it was a recommendation from a group I am, everyone was like you gotta read, you gotta read, so I one clicked. With my job, I thought for the small price that the audio was being offered, it would be great, I could listen while working.
It was interesting. We meet this family with all these brothers and they still fight like they are all under the age of 10. They were portrayed as real, not this fake family that you never see really together, but they were jealous of each other, worked together, criticized each other, and told each when they were being a pain in the butt.
Aiden comes home, basically with his tail between his legs, the baby and blacksheep, writer, in the family. He feels like he has failed trying to get a novel published, however he continues to try. He returns and seeks the help of his family when he is really loathing the idea. His oldest brother Antony takes him in and gives him a job. His brother really gives it to him, not giving him an inch to make a mistake, all the while also giving him crap for his profession.
In walks Rosalee, Antony's girlfriend. She is widowed and with a little boy, who is a hand full but really takes to Aiden. I really liked listening to Aiden's relationship with her son grow. At times the little boy didn't want or listen to anyone but Aiden. They made a connection really quickly in the relationship.
Rosalee and Aiden feel a spark also, to the extent of going behind Antony's back to be together. They both feel crappy doing it but no one is willing to pull the rug out from under Antony's feet to be honest. It was a roller coaster for sure.
This family was great to listen to, the banter, not letting each other get away with anything. By the end, we know all the brothers and little sister along with their parents. We are set up with the books to follow. It was a wonderful introduction to Liz Crowe and I look forward to returning to the Love family to see what happens to everyone else.
