This series is one of the great ones. I stumbled upon Claire's "Kaleidoscope Hearts" because of a sale when "Paper Hearts" was being release and her writing and characters have me hooked.
Nicole and Victor's story begins at a club where they meet and hook up. Nicole is addicting to Victor but he shortly finds out that she is actually the daughter of his boss and quickly ends things. It ends up being a regret of his however he never lets it show and doesn't contact Nicole after she leaves.
Nicole follows her dream of costume dressing on movie sets and meets an actor. After having her heart broken by Victor, she is married quickly. I think she thought the only way to fix the broken was with another man but instead all she got was another broken heart.
Five years later Victor is assigned a case that will ensure his partner status, only to find out that it is Nicole's impending divorce he is working. The attraction is still there after years and they cannot fight it. Victor, however is still putting his career first.
I was relieved and my heart did a little jump when Victor requested to speak to Nicole's dad and come clean about his feelings. The only thing was he told her dad before he told her that she had his heart. I was thrilled when it all worked out.
