Release with Review:: Wrecked For You by Kristin Mayer

Title: Wrecked For You
Series: An Exposed Hearts Novel
Author: Kristin Mayer
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 10, 2018

My life was set. In five months I would be engaged to a man I didn’t love.

In fifteen months I would marry someone who didn’t love me.
It was a carefully calculated script thought out by those who had the most to gain. The same people who thought happiness came from money.
Everything was going according to plan until I met Hayden Foster. Now, I have to find a way to escape this life—my prison.

Another streak of lightning flashed across the sky. The storm was getting worse. There was no way I’d be able to fly home tonight. Air traffic control would never clear us with the stalled front coming in.
Now or never. I opened the car door and walked up the pathway that led straight to the front door. The heavy rain quickly soaked through my jeans. I’d found a raincoat on the plane, but it did little to keep me dry. The wind was whipping the water around every which way. Once I got to the door, the covered porch helped shelter me some.
I took a deep breath and then knocked three times.
Stay calm. Whatever happens, at least you’ll know. The door opened, and warm light spilled out into the darkness. My word, she’s beautiful. There she stood in her jeans and light pink T-shirt with her blonde hair pulled up into a bun on the top of her head. It was hard not to pull her to me and kiss the life out of her. Her startled eyes met mine. She’d been crying. Seeing her red, blotchy eyes and tear-streaked cheeks slayed me. My fists clenched, and I reminded myself not to rush this. Kory’s lip quivered. Only a couple of feet separated us, but they felt like the width of a canyon. I began to speak, but she beat me to it, her voice sounding sadder than I remembered. “Hayden, what are you doing here?”
Shit. Thunder roared through the skies and my heart plummeted. That wasn’t the reaction I was hoping for.
Unsure how to respond, I blurted out the first thing that came to mind. “Why did you leave?”
There were a million other things I wanted to ask, like why she was upset, but her question threw me. If things were over, I wasn’t going to put myself out there even more.
She looked around outside before pulling me in the house. I stumbled at the sudden movement but caught myself. The door slammed shut, and in the next moment, Kory threw her arms around me, holding me as if her life depended on it. Without another thought, I wound my arms around her, inhaling her sweet vanilla scent. This was the greeting I had hoped for. This felt right.
Kory let out a sniffle before saying, “You came for me. You actually came. When I needed you the most, you came.”
I held her tighter. “I’m sorry it took so long. The way things happened with us and how you left did a number on my head.”
She pulled back, and fresh tears filled her eyes. “You have to go back to Alaska and forget you ever met me. You can’t be here.”

Review:
I enjoyed the story of Kory and Hayden. I loved that he was so sure of his feelings for her, that he took a leap of faith and fought for her. He didn't have to follow her home and see what she was thinking, where her head space was, but he did. He went there and spent time explaining to her that they could have a life.
Kory feels trapped, she doesn't know what to do with life at the moment. The feeling of drowning and not able to breath is horrible and Kristin did an excellent job of making me understand what Kory was feeling. You will be by her side with decisions that must be made to make her life worth living.
It was a nice story and the family was very caring with each other.

Kristin Mayer is a wife and proud mother. Since an early age, she has always enjoyed reading and writing. While visiting her father one weekend, he suggested that she should take up writing again. With family and a career, she didn’t give it a lot of thought, until a story entered her mind and wouldn’t leave.
At the beginning of 2013, she decided to sit down and write it all down, but she kept it to herself. One sentence developed into two, and before she knew it, she had the makings of a novel. Read:: The Left Side of Perfect by Meghan Quinn

I will forever kick myself for being off my game and missing the ARC sign ups for this duet. Not that buying it was horrible it was the fact that I had to wait with everyone else for the release. I knew from the last duet that was released that I did NOT want to miss Colby's story.
We met Colby in the previous duet, quiet, serious, and always on task. Finally though we see this gentle giant let go and have fun. We see him in complete alpha mode. Dominate and conquer. He forms a friendship with the least expecting person you would think. A friendship that will go through many stages until it cannot bend any longer and must break. This book had me crying. I was so emotional through it. I was antsy as to what will happen, who will finally see the light. And then there is the engagement.

Release with Review:: Turn by Cora Brent

I absolutely loved Cassie and Curtis's story. I knew that one of Cord's 2 girls would choose a man that would remind us of his love for Saylor. Their hard start and the fact that Curtis is from her dad's hometown. I loved how strong Curtis was and how vulnerable he was at the same time. He was a great mixture of hard and soft. He tried so hard to do what was right for his brothers. Thankfully Deck and Cord were there for guidance along the way.
Cassie cracked me up, she is sarcastic and loveable all within 5 minutes. She is still recovering from being humiliated in high school and still doesn't trust anyone. She is on guard with her heart but always tries to find the good in others.
These two together were hot, their chemistry will make you swoon. Cora gave us a great look at the family and where everyone is and who's story to expect next. I absolutely love how we continue to fall in love with this family.

**A steamy new 'opposites attract' story that may be read a stand alone.**

CASSIE
I’m determined to leave my mistakes in the past.
These days I’m back in school, I’m surrounded by my wonderful, crazy family and I’m working for my dad.
Then Curtis Mulligan happens.
A supposedly reformed gang member from the rundown prison town where my folks grew up, Curtis looks like he was built for mayhem.
We have nothing in common.
If he hadn’t taken a job working for my father, our paths wouldn’t even cross.
But I can’t admit that menacing mix of ink and muscle has flipped a switch inside of me.
It’s an impulse I’m determined to ignore.
However, when Curtis turns out to be much more than he seems and steps between me and a bad situation, I wind up owing him a hell of a favor.
And I can’t think of anything but paying him back…

CURTIS
I should have been dead a dozen times over but somehow I’m still here.
I’m grateful for the chance to keep my head down and act like a regular citizen. Screwing up isn’t an option and getting naked with the boss’s daughter is no way to thank the man for a job.
Besides, sweet, clueless Cassie Gentry isn’t the kind of girl I’m used to entertaining myself with. I had planned to keep my hands off even if she begged for it.
But that was before I realized Cassie is much more than a pretty face.
She just might be the girl who can turn me around for good...

*TURN is the latest book set in the Gentry world from USA Today and NYT Bestselling author Cora Brent. May be read as a stand alone.*

Release with Review:: Keep by Cora Brent

This one, man this one was so good. Cora completely turned the tables on us, giving us some point of views that you would expect. The two voices in this book tell the story intimately and show us the hearts of the Gentry women. You will see how much Cord's girls are loved. You will see how close this family is and how they accept those in the family that are bounded by marriage. They will show you that no matter what forgiveness is there and helps. This family and their story is close to my heart and I cannot wait to see the next get the happily ever after.

"This one might break your heart..."
The Gentry boys were never supposed to be a success story.
In their bleak prison hometown their very name was a curse and everyone expected the boys would follow the same path as the vicious generations that came before them.
But everyone was proven wrong.
And on this wedding day of dreams they will all gather to watch one of their beloved daughters marry her prince.
It was all going to be perfect.
The day was not supposed to end in tragedy.
There should have been a honeymoon instead of a funeral.
And now the family that has been through everything will need to stand together and confront a terrible challenge that no one ever saw coming...

**KEEP is a novella and the latest addition to the spinoff Gentry Generations series by NYT and USA Today bestselling author Cora Brent. If you're new to these lovable alpha boys, welcome to the Gentry world!

Read:: Adios Pantalones by J. Sterling

This was a very dramatic story. This had a little a bit of everything in it. It didn't have the fun loving Ryan that we had met in the first two books though. He was serious and worried a lot. He found his girl and kept pursuing. We got a look into his mind. We found out his inner feelings and it showed that he is more than just the guy that takes off his shirt at the end of the night.
Sofia is drama, drama, and more. Her life goes from quiet to a tailspin within days of meeting Ryan. Her ex who was non existent until now shows up. It was off and weird that this family that wanted nothing to do with her is now demanding her presence.
After a while it was too much and I just wanted the happy ending so I scooted forward and was able to have the happy moment at the end.

I'm the hopeless romantic in the family and I don't care who knows. My brothers make fun of me for it, calling me "Princess" and "Cinderella" every chance they get, but I couldn't care less. I'm done with one night stands and women who mean nothing to me. My dating for the sake of dating days are over.

I know what I want and I refuse to settle for less. I'm ready to find "the one." You know exactly what I'm talking about.

Single mom Sofia can't stand me. I want to get to know her better, but she keeps pushing me away. I just need one chance to show her that I'm not the guy she thinks I am, but she won't let me get anywhere near her.

Being a single mom has made her heart guarded. Being a single guy has made my heart determined.

I wonder who's heart is going to give in first?

Read:: Guy Hater by J. Sterling

I liked this book. I liked that we were introduced to a man that doesn't have it all together. I liked that we have a man that has a heart. Frank is a man who keeps his word. He has stayed with his girlfriend for years. They are in a good comfortable spot. Frank has never needed for it to be changed. He has taken care of Shelby for years.
Claudia goes to a bar without any hopes or dreams of meeting a great guy. She goes with a friend that desperately wants to get the eye of one of the Fisher Brothers.
These two have great chemistry and I will give it to Frank, he does try to hold back. He does try to keep her at a distance. He knows that he is a dead end relationship. Claudia causes excitement. The story was told in a very tasteful way to let us know that he felt horrible how he was dealing with it and I had a feeling that Claudia would learn the truth in a horrible way.
This story has all the feels and I loved how we were able to see the brothers working together, loving on another, and taking care of each other.

I might be the quiet one, but I hear everything. The women who come into my bar aren't at all silent about their wants or desires. And I'm one of them. They call me "sexy, alluring and mysterious." They want to be "spanked by Frank." Hell, there's even a hashtag. But none of that matters until she walks through my doors.

My body reacts.
My whole world shifts.

I want her, but I can't have her. And if she finds out the truth about me, I'll lose my shot forever. That's not a chance I'm willing to take. I just hope I'm strong enough to do what needs to be done before it's too late.
